Dahl was a landscape painter and was known for his great vide Danish Landscapes.
Dahl was very inspired by the master painter Th. Lyndbye and followed his national landscape tradition. Dahl is known for his bright cool colors and his romantic portray of Danish Nature. Dahl had a gift of nature for painting and was mostly self thought. However he also was educated at the technical school of art in 1903 and took several art classes. Dahl traveled many times in Germany and northern Italy in 1905-08. He also stayed for a while in Paris in 1922 and 1926.
