T.H. Nygaard was son of the Politician Wilhelm Nygaard. He was educated at the Royal art academy in Denmark, and has been exhibited both in Denmark and abroad. He is known for his city sceneries of Copenhagen. Nygaard have travelled a lot in countries including Germany, France and The Netherlands. He also lived and worked in Italy for periods.
