Kornbeck was educated at the Royal Academy of Art in 1852. Pupil of Heinrich Hansen. Kornbeck was highly influenced of his teacher Heinrich Hansen and worked primarily with interiors and architectural scenes. Kornbeck was famous for his amazing eye for details and worked very long and hard on each of his work. Kornbeck also had an unique sense for lights and shadows and many of his works contains sunsets and evening scenes. The skills and talents of Kornbeck became even more obvious in later years when Kornbeck lost one of his eyes in an accident in 1868. Regardless of the accident Kornbeck continued to paint and his works were as detailed and remarkable as before the accident. Kornbeck has worked with many church and castle interiors in Denmark. Like The Frederiksborg Castle and Rosenborg Castle. Kornbeck traveled and lived in Italy from 1860 where he worked in Milano, Verona, Siena, Assisi, Viterbo, Rom, Subiaco and Palermo. Kornbeck traveled to Egypt in 1887 where he did a series of amazing landscapes with pyramids, sphinx and ruins.
