Nathan has painted everything from naturalistic landscapes to modern compositions. Nathan was educated at the Royal Art Academy in 1905 and was at that time a pupil of Johan Rohde. Nathan travelled to Paris in 1910 to study with the French master painter Édouard Vuillard, and was a pupil of Maurice Denis. Nathan is known especially for his light colours and his charismatic landscapes from the peninsula, Mols, in Denmark.
