Born in Annedal in Göteborg. Ludvigsson was educated as a navel architect. His first exhibition was in 1950 at the naval museum in Göteborg. He traveled and painted onboard many Scandinavian ships and traveled to the united states aboard the M/S Parramatta. Ludvigsson became quickly an experienced marine artist with a keen eye for details and accuracy. Ludvigssons many travels gave him a unique opportunity to study the many colours and shapes of the oceans. Ludvigsson also had an enormous number of different views to work with, due to the hundreds of different vessels he accounted on his travels. Ludvigsson archived great fame during his lifetime and was busy with the many requests he got from captains and other naval officers. Many of the works of Ludvigsson are today represented at the Royal Naval Museum in Sweden and Norway.
