Larsen was one of Denmark’s youngest talented artists. He was only 20 when he debuted at his first art exhibition at the artists fall exhibition in 1917. Later he was accepted at the royal art academy and graduated in 1929. During the 1920s he joined the modern art group “De fire” where other members included Svend Johansen, Vilhelm Lundstrøm and Axel Salto. The group worked and travelled and stayed for long periods in France and Italy 1921-25 where they did landscapes from Paris, Bormes and Cagnes-sur-Mer and Rome. Larsen worked primarily with landscapes but has also done expressionistic portraits and still life’s. Besides painting Larsen also worked as a sculptor at the royal porcelain fabric in 1940. Karl Larsen has been exhibited numerous times in Scandinavia and in Paris and united states.
