Jürgen Roed was one of the Danish master painters of the Golden age in Danish art.
Pupil of C.W Eckersberg and Hans Hansen. Roed made several alter pieces to great Danish churches and decorated among others, Frederiksborg Slots Kirke, (the castle of Fredericksburg),. Roed created many known master pieces in his lifetime among them were “The Prison yard in Palazzo del Bargello” and “Winter at Roskilde Domkirke”. Roed had the high esteemed position as Professor at Royal Art Academy from 1862-87. Roed have been exhibited numerous times world wide. The most known exhibitions include “The Arts of Denmark, Museum of Modern Art, N.Y. 1961 and “Danish Paintings of the golden age” National Gallery, London 1984
