Educated at the Royal academy of arts in 1863. Pupil of P.C. Skovgaard and Emmerik Hoeegh-Guldberg. Boesen was primarily a landscape artist and known for his very romantic and sunlit forest scenes from around Europe. Boesen worked in Germany, Italy and France from 1879 to early 19th century. Boesen works has been compared to the likes of Vilhelm Kyhn and Godfred Christensen. Boesens works were exhibited at the World Fair in Chicago 1893 and also throughout Europe.
