Kock was a marine painter and known for his detailed ship portraits and seascapes from the island Earø where he was born. Kock was greatly inspired by the artist H.A. Hansen and later Kock began to paint very colorful and impressionistic seascapes and harbour scenes. Johan Kock is today permantly exhibited at the Marstal Museum at Aerø in Denmark.
