Løbbers was primarily a marine painter and educated at the royal art academy in 1879. Løbbers is known for his naturalistic seascapes and harbour scenes from Copenhagen harbour and from the coast of north Zealand. Løbbers travelled many times to Italy where he did a series of sunlit landscapes.
