Educated at the school of marine artist J.H Brandt in 1905., she was a pupil of Gerhard Blom. Thalbitzer worked primarily with flower scenes and landscapes. She worked and travelled in Greece and Italy during the 1940s and also stayed in Africa and the Algiers during the 1950s. Thalbitzer is known for her landscapes from northern Zealand and from her many exotic travels but received the best critics for her flower scenes.
