Sørensen was educated at the technical school in 1885 where he was a pupil if H.Grønvold. In 1887 Sørensen was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts and was a pupil of J. Exner and F. Vermehren. Sørensen is known for his stunning series of bright landscapes, interiors and garden scenes from Denmark. He is especially known for his brilliant lights and use of colours. Sørensen often worked on the same landscape during different seasons and made series with the same view at summer, autumn and winter. Sørensen travelled and worked in Paris during the 1920s, Germany (1895-1904) Netherlands (1904) and Italy (1913-1921)
