Blache was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in 1891. Pupil of C.F Sörensen. Blache was also educated in ship construction in 1857. Blache was primarily a marine artist and traveled all his life to paint seascapes, ships portraits and costal scenes. Blache was an extraordinary visionary artist and very much ahead of his time. While other classic marine painters of his time worked with realism, Blache experimented with early impressionism and modernism. There has been much discussion concerning how and where Blache was influenced by impressionism and modernism. Most historians believe that it must have happened while Blache visited Paris at the World fair in 1878 and 1887. Blaches visionary works awoke great interest in Europe and Blache received many orders from various Nobles and Royal families. Blache received many awards and sponsorships and used the money to travel to Holland, Belgium, Paris, Italy, Vienna, Germany and Iceland from 1878-1887.
