Private pupil of Viggo Brandt in 1917 and Aksel Jørgensen in 1923. Nielsen primarily archived great fame for his portraits that were known to be captivating and lively. Nielsen was often requested to do portraits of known Danish actors and writers. Besides portraits Nielsen also worked on landscapes, especially landscapes not far from Copenhagen. Nielsen is known for his great colours and his special ability to capture lights from nature.
