Bokkenheuser was pupil of the master painters Rostrup Böyesen, Eduard Saltoft and Karl Larsen. Bokkenheuser worked on various sceneries like landscapes, cityscapes and modern compositions. He lived most of his life at Nivaagaard, Humlebaek in Denmark where he did a long series of bright modern landscapes and seascapes.
