Roose was a pupil of S.Clod Svensson from 1898- 99, and was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in 1900. He attended the artists study school under P.S Kroyer and L. Tuxen from 1901-1905. Educated at the Colarossi Academy in Paris in 1906. The works of Roose are known for their excellent atmosphere and charm. Roose worked especially on capturing the true nature of lights in his scenes and experimented with early modernism. Roose worked primarily with open landscapes and is known for his series of landscapes with cattle. He is also known for his excellent and emotional figure scenes from which he was highly praised. Roose taught art at the Academy from 1905-1911. Later Roose opened his own art school where he taught art together with Viggo Pedersen. Roose worked all over Scandinavia and traveled many times to Paris in 1905-1907 and 1928-1929. He also worked in Rome and London.
