Educated at the school of N.V Dorphs in 1902. Frederiksen was born in Skagen and naturally worked with numerous sunlit scenes from the famous beaches and harbors in Skagen. Frederiksen always stayed at Skagen every summer so he could capture the special lights. In winter time he traveled to Paris, Germany and Italy and often worked for 6 months until his return to Skagen at summer. Besides his sunlit scenes from skagen, Frederiksen also was known for his snow and winter landscapes from Europe and Scandinavia.
